Career Technical Education

Hello everyone. I'd like to welcome you to the 22/23 school year. My name is Rafael Iniguez and I currently serve as Parlier Unified’s Career Technical Education Coordinator. What is a Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathway and why is important and necessary? According to the California Department of Education, a CTE Pathway is a sequence of courses within a student’s area of interest that will connect their career interests at the secondary school level to college and/or a career. It is also a student’s educational road map guiding them through the high school courses and college options most relevant to her or his chosen career destination. A pathway will help students acquire the depth of knowledge and skills linked with specific college and university programs that will lead to a certificate, degree, and/or career. The growth in career technical education courses at Parlier Unified was made possible by support from our district office, grant funding, district funding, LCFF/LCAP funding, and our active alliance with Valley ROP, Reedley College, and Fresno City College.

Prior to the pandemic, Parlier High School reached the highest level (blue) possible on the California State Accountability Dashboard in the area of College and Career Readiness (CCI).

Mi nombre es Rafael Iniguez y actualmente trabajo como Coordinador de Educación Técnica Profesional en el Distrito Unificado de Parlier. ¿Qué es una Vía de Carrera Técnica Profesional (CTE) y por qué es importante y necesario? Según el Departamento de Educación de California, una Vía de Carrera Técnica Profesional (CTE) es una secuencia de cursos dentro del área de interés de un estudiante que conectará sus intereses de carrera en el nivel de la escuela secundaria con la universidad y/o una carrera. También es la hoja de ruta educativa del estudiante que los guía a través de los cursos de la escuela secundaria y las opciones universitarias más relevantes para su destino profesional elegido. Una vía de carreras ayudará a los estudiantes a adquirir la profundidad de los conocimientos y las habilidades relacionadas con los programas específicos de la universidad y la universidad que los llevara a un certificado, título y/o carrera. El crecimiento en los cursos de educación técnica profesional en el distrito de Parlier fue posible gracias al apoyo de nuestro distrito, fondos del estado, fondos de distrito, fondos LCFF/LCAP, y nuestra alianza activa con Valley ROP, Reedley College, y Fresno City College.

Antes de la pandemia, la preparatoria de Parlier High School obtuvo el nivel mas alto (azul) en el reporte estatal en la area de preparacion de colegios y carreras (CCI).
