Superintendent’s Message

Welcome back to a brand new year!  I know that we were hoping to have the opportunity to work and learn in person, side by side with our colleagues and friends.  We are in constant communication with Fresno County and the California Department of Education (CDE) for the latest guidance so that we can continue to uphold safety and maximize learning during these uncertain times.

As I visited all sites, I got a glimpse of the Parlier USD spirit--one of family, collaboration, and support.  It is this spirit that allows us to keep going even if we do not know exactly what will happen.  Our staff is reporting increased enrollment, fewer technology glitches, high participation in the “Meet and Greets”, innovative use of technology, positive staff meetings, and use of data to drive actions.  Our parents are thankful for the health screening processes that are in place at each of our sites and for the positive support they are receiving from teachers.

We are all making the best out of an unexpected situation and continue to have high expectations of ourselves and others.  One of our 2020 Valedictorians stated that “sometimes we're tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths.” Even though we had to start this school year virtually, we must and will continue to focus on student engagement and mastery, ongoing professional growth, and strengthening partnerships with our parents and community.  I can’t wait to look back on this year and celebrate all that we will have collectively accomplished.  I have faith that we will be stronger, wiser, and braver.

The Parlier community is already doing amazing things.  I have seen first hand some of the highlights that have been noted by staff and parents and I need your help in getting the word out.  Everyone needs to know about Parlier USD, the hidden gem of California’s Central Valley!  Please follow us on Twitter: @ParlierUSD, on Facebook: Parlier Unified School District, and on Instagram: parlierusd.

It will take me some time to get to know the area and peoples’ names, but please grant me some grace and patience.  When our paths cross, please stop me and say hello.  I look forward to connecting with you all!
